For Christmas, Absolute Batman And Robin. Next Christmas, That Is.
Come November 2012, will anyone remember there was a pre-relaunch Batman And Robin?
DC clearly hope so, which is why they are releasing the slightly clumsily titled Absolute Batman & Robin: Batman Reborn, featuring Grant Morrison's run on the book with art from Frank Quitely, Philip Tan, David Finch, Cameron Stewart, Andy Clarke and Frazer Irving.
It's an atypical choice, the Absolute books have generally reflected singular creative teams rather than the rotating artists of this title, as the Dick Grayson Batman teams with Bruce Wayne's son Damien as the new Robin and deal with a Bruce-less Gotham.
Bruce Wayne has fallen, and former Robin Dick Grayson has taken up the mantle of the Dark Knight. He is joined by a new Robin – Damien Wayne, the assassin-raised son of the original Batman. Together, the unlikely pair fights against a brutal menace that threatens Gotham City, as well as a pair of rival vigilantes out to fill the void left by Bruce's disappearance, and start what would become Batman Inc. Look for an Absolute volume of that comic in 2013, I guess.
The book will contain Batman And Robin #1-16 and Batman The Return #1.
