Hit-Girl #1 and Ice Cream Man #2 Get Second Printings

Following up on Image Expo earlier this week, Image has announced sell-outs and second printings for Hit-Girl #1 and Ice Cream Man #2. In Hit-Girl's case, the first three issues have been made returnable, which benefits Image twice: first when it causes retailers to increase orders and second when they can use any returned copies for an ultra-rare third-printing first-printing variant!

In the press release for Hit-Girl, Image described it by saying the comic is being "rushed back to print in order to keep up with overwhelming customer demand," which they have to admit is probably exaggerating the situation a little bit. No doubt the comic is doing well, but surely they have procedures in place for second printings, considering they usually send out multiple press releases about them for months, and the process is calm and orderly.

The second printing for Hit-Girl #1, by Mark Millar and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, will be in stores on March 21st with a final order cutoff of February 26th.

In HIT-GIRL #1, the pint-sized Punisher-meets-Polly-Pocket has left America behind and set off to serve justice around the world. First stop: Colombia. A mother seeking vengeance for the murder of her child enlists Hit-Girl to destroy his killer, but Mindy has bigger plans for Colombia's most feared hitman.

In the case of Ice Cream Man, by W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo, it sounds like Image had a better handle on things, needing only to "fast-track" the second printing rather than rush it, though it is slightly worrying that Image continues to find the customer demand "overwhelming." Get it together, Image!

Ice Cream Man #2's second printing will be in stores on March 21st along with Ice Cream Man #3. The final order cutoff for both is February 26th.

Each issue of ICE CREAM MAN serves up its own flavor of misery, and through them all runs the ribbon of fudge that is the Ice Cream Man: a friend, a foe, and a purveyor of sweet treats.
