John Byrne's Plot For The Thing #2, And More, At Auction
It's Clobberin' Time for The Thing. You get some peculiar things popping up in Heritage Original Comic Book Art Auctions. Such as original comic book scripts – or indeed plots which the artist would work up into comics using the Marvel Method, Up right now as part of their is the plot proposal as written by John Byrne for the second issue of his series The Thing, which was drawn by Ron Wilson. And also for Super-Boxers, a graphic novel John Byrne scripted for Marvel, written and drawn by Ron Wilson. all but forgotten now. Makes for a piece of history. And the finished comic book. Do you remember this? Near-future suped-up sports… a bit like the super-wrestling matches that The Thing ended up in his own title.

John Byrne The Thing #2 and Super-Boxers Graphic Novel Script Synopsis (Marvel, 1983). John Byrne details Ben Grimm's struggle after the fallout from the Fantastic Four's adventures in the Negative Zone and the damage left behind by Annihilus in this original hand-typed script breakdown (actual wording was added after the comic art was completed, as per the Marvel way). This is notable for being one of the first scripts Byrne wrote that he did not draw. Byrne's plot synopsis, which is not a script, for Super-Boxers Graphic Novel is also included in this group. The pages are toned with notation throughout the script. In Very Good condition.
Currently listed for $19 for the pair, I reckon it will go higher for the curiosity value alone. There are also two more for future issues written by Mike Carlin, currently going for a buck each.
Mike Carlin The Thing #28 Script Synopsis (Marvel, 1985). The Thing ends his stint with the Thunderiders (previously known as Team America) to join the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation for the story "In This Corner". The story is laid out in this hand-typed original script breakdown (actual wording was added after the comic art was completed, as per the Marvel way) by Mike Carlin. The pages are toned with notation throughout the script and a few spot stains. In Very Good condition.
Mike Carlin The Thing #30 Script Synopsis (Marvel, 1985). The Thing challenges the Beyonder to trade blows in the ring for the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation for the Secret Wars II tie-in story "Above and Beyond". The story is laid out in this hand-typed original script breakdown (actual wording was added after the comic art was completed, as per the Marvel way) by Mike Carlin. The pages are toned with notation throughout the script, a few spot stains, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
