Kelly Thompson And Meredith McClaren Bring You A Heart In A Box
Kelly Thompson, of IDW's upcoming Jem and the Holograms and Meredith McClaren of Hinges are creating an original graphic novel for Dark Horse Comics, called Heart In A Box.
In a moment of post-heartbreak weakness, Emma wishes her heart away, and a mysterious stranger obliges. But emptiness is even worse than grief, and Emma sets out to collect the seven pieces of her heart in a journey that forces her to face her own history and the cost of recapturing it!
A fresh, funny, and action-packed take on heartbreak, Heart in a Box is Thompson and McClaren's first graphic novel collaboration and comes hot on the heels of Thompson's critically acclaimed novels, The Girl Who Would Be King and Storykiller.
Out in July, it's on Amazon.com already, described as,
When the Man with No Name breaks Emma's heart, she wants to die. But you never die from these things; you just want to. In a moment of weakness, she wishes her broken heart away and a mysterious stranger–who may or may not be totally evil–obliges. But emptiness is even worse than grief, and Emma sets out to collect the seven pieces of her heart spread across the country, a journey that forces her to face her own history and the cost of recapturing it, and leads inevitably to a confrontation with the Man with No Name himself!
And we've managed to find the following bits of art… and script, from across the internet, though Kelly tells me that tehy've been redrawn in full.
PAGE ONE (1 panel)
Panel 1. Large splash panel of a girl (EMMA) being throw across a room, she looks like she's getting her ass kicked. Emma should be dressed in an outfit that looks as if she's disassembled it to make it much more aggressively revealing than it originally was (we will see this scene later). Also note that Emma needs to have the "eye effect" we decide on in this panel (and pages 1 – 4) (see page 17, panel 1 for reference).
EMMA CAPTION:
This isn't what it looks like
