When Kids Turn A High School Into A Comic Con And Get Walt Simonson And Joe Kelly To Come Along
Phillipsburg Comic-Con is a comic convention held in a school, and run by its students' Phillipsburg High School Comic and Anime & Manga clubs. It aims to bring a show to a low-income community that can't afford to go to a show, while raising money for survivors of rape and sexual abuse, donating all proceeds to RAINN, an anti-sexual assault organization working with local rape crisis centers across the US.
It's the third show the school has run and, while it's raising money for a very good cause, going doing appear to be a charitable action. It's a full-blown comic con with full-blown guests. Including, this year, Walt Simonson, Joe Kelly, Louise Simonson, Amy Chu, Franco, Jacob Chabot, Scott Hanna, Chris Giarrusso, Rags Morales, Will Rosada, Lee Weeks and more…
They will also give out free comics and a past year's show exclusive print (pencilled by Rags Morales) to each attendee, while supplies last. Other giveaways include DVDs, CDs, and posters.
It's held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the new Phillipsburg High School from 10am-4pm. Let us know if you are going… entrance is $5, children 10 and under are free if accompanied by a paid adult.
