Marvel Publishes Tag And Bink Star Wars Comics Again, Ahead of Solo Movie

Dark Horse published a series of comics over the years featuring incompetent Jedi-hangers-on, Tag and Bink, who seemed to turn up in the most newsworthy of Star Wars stories published by Dark Horse Comics

Created by Kevin Rubio, Tag is from the planet Corellia and Bink is from Alderaan, a pair of minor Jedi characters who deliberately or accidentally influence the events seen in the first and second film trilogies. Their meddling also explains some of the inconsistent and illogical events of the series. The title of their initial appearance — Tag and Bink Are Dead — is a direct reference to the Tom Stoppard play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, two minor Hamlet characters who are seen to influence far more of the narrative than once thought,

Tag and Bink first meet when they are found to have Force potential. The comics illustrate how these two Jedi in training haphazardly cause all the pivotal events in the Star Wars universe.

Tag and Bink will make their official cinematic debut in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, portrayed by Jon Kasdan and Toby Hefferman. In a Reddit AMA in October 2017, Kevin Rubio supported the fan theory stating that the two stormtroopers who back up to avoid the wrath of Kylo Ren following him discovering Rey has escaped in Star Wars: The Force Awakens are an elderly Tag and Bink.

The 006 collection from Dark Horse comics regularly sells for three figures. That, combined with the characters appearing in Solo, seems to have persuaded current licence holder to put it back into print for May…

STAR WARS: TAG & BINK WERE HERE #1

(W) Kevin Rubio (A/CA) Lucas Maragon, Rick Zombo

They're the most important Star Wars characters you never knew existed — until now! Tag Greenley and Bink Otauna were on Leia's ship carrying the Death Star plans — when Darth Vader changed their lives forever! But as their true roles in this epic saga are revealed, whose side are Tag and Bink on, anyway? The hapless duo's fateful adventures will take them all the way from Tatooine to Cloud City to Endor — and bring them face-to-face with Lando Calrissian, Boba Fett and more! But every great tale has a prequel — so what were Tag and Bink up to when the Clone Wars began? Prepare to discover their uncanny origin! We have a bad feeling about this! Collecting STAR WARS: TAG & BINK ARE DEAD #1-2, STAR WARS: TAG & BINK II #1-2 and material from STAR WARS TALES #12. (STL081552)
