Marvel's Top 5 Mutants According to Jonathan Hickman

In July, superstar writer Jonathan Hickman will take the X-Men to a bold new era where nothing will be the same again and the X-universe will be rocked to its foundations and all of that jazz. But July is three months away, which is like 8 years in terms of the 24-hour comics news cycle (and roughly 2 days in terms of Marvel decompressed continuity). The point is, we can't wait all that time just to find out what's going to happen in these highly anticipated books, which is why we've been closely monitoring Hickman's Twitter account for any clues that can meet the bare minimum requirements to justify a clickbait article shed some light on what to expect from House of X and Powers of X this Summer.

Today, Hickman delivered, dropping some massive hints about the upcoming story by revealing which X-Men characters are in his top 5 favorites.

Bless your heart, Hickman. Hickman then names his top five "mutants." Those "mutants," in order, are Magneto, the White Queen, Mister Sinister, Monet, and, tied in fifth place, Sunspot, and Cannonball. Though Hickman does go on to point out that one of those characters is not actually a mutant, having not gained his powers from his genes:

Now that we know Hickman's top five mutants, what can we deduce from that information? Well, we can probably guess that these characters will be safe in Hickman's two six-issue weekly X-titles, since he loves them so much. Then again, maybe because he loves them, he'll have to make them suffer the most. Hmmm. Well, at least we can surmise that Hickman will feature these characters prominently in his story. That is unless this is misdirection and these characters won't be featured prominently at all.

Hmmm.. it seems like we don't really know very much more than when we started, almost as if there's little actual value in the information contained in the products of modern clickbait "journalism." Well, we'll continue to monitor Hickman's twitter account and let you know the very next time he tweets anything X-Men related, in case things have changed by then.
