Mr Monster Needs You
Rachel Richie writes,
From the last journals of Doctor Jim Stearne, some time after his battle as Mr. Monster with the "Terror of Trezma."
June 30th, 1947
"This may inadvertently by my last will and testament. During my study of the grotesque and malformed "creature of Trezma" I seem to have contracted the same suspended animation that put him to sleep for all those centuries. Perhaps it was a contagion still lingering on his body, or a poison on his skin. I have been unable to replicate the effect of the stimulant leaves as all of them burned up around the creature and I cannot seem to find more. I feel my body slowing and although Glo's help has been invaluable, there is nothing more terrifying than finding yourself fading into obscurity before your run has even started.
If only there was some way to bring me back, to reinvigorate my body. How long will I be suspended? 50 years? 60 years? 70? Can no one help me? Is my work of so little consequence?"
– Jim Stearne
Wow, guys. Wow. All this man wanted to do was save everyone from evil, I find it hard to believe that no one could actually save him. Really?
If you go to Kickstarter right now, you CAN save him, by buying the complete collection of Doc Stearne's/Mr. Monster's stories. Then, with a little bit of white magic, (and sharing, tweeting, retweeting and posting) maybe he can survive through the ages.
You find yourself asking, "How is this related to Michael T Gilbert's Mr. Monster?" Good question! These stories by writer and artist Fred Kelly were the inspiration for Gilbert! And Alan Moore! And William Messner-Loebs!
The book itself also includes a foreword by Ramon Perez with essays by Michael T Gilbert and Mike Valiquette. There are lots of cool incentives like t-shirts, original art, prints, stickers, and more! And stretch goals are posted! So go on over and check it out!
Poor Jim.
