Nazi Zombies From The Antarctic Need Your Help
Marshall Naylor writes,
Zombies fight for the Führer, and only the Allied powers can stop them in Antarctic Press' newest Kickstarter, Nazi Zombies.
One of the main contributors, Joe Wight, sat down with me for a quick chat about the book.
The story takes place over four issues. The timeline of the book follows different groups of soldiers over a four-year period and chronicles their encounters with reanimated Nazi soldiers who cannot die, Wight says.
Not unlike the style of Call of Duty games, readers are put right in the middle of the action for each story. In one story, zombies aboard a submarine blast into an allied ship, hungry to eat those abandoning the sinking vessel. Another story features a showdown with a herd of zombies on a speeding freight train. An account of how these undead soldiers come to be is weaved into the narrative as well.
Wight and Ben Dunn, the other comic artist who worked on the book, show a very gritty art style in each story. The main characters are tough and square-jawed. Zombies ooze off of the page. Whether the action takes place under the hot African sun, in rainy Germany, or on the North Sea, shadows loom and explosions look chaotic.
Reading the book sometimes feels like watching a war reel.
For all its gore and action, there's a subtle message in the stories. The things that humans do to one another in war time are some of the least human.
The Kickstarter for Nazi Zombies will help fund a reprint, trade paperback and hard cover versions of the four-issue comic. Antarctic Press is trying to reach $6,495; as of this writing, they are at $1,951. Please help fund this book here.
