Page 45 – From The British Comics Awards To #Prettygate
Page 45, the independent "real mainstream" comic store from Nottingham has just celebrated its 21st birthday. A famous comic shop in Britain, it didn't pander to the existing industry when it opened, it focused on what it thought comics should be, and discovered that over the last two decades everyone else seems to have come round to its way of thinking.
But not everything runs smoothly for Page 45. It was a sponsor of the upcoming British Comics Awards – but didn't like what it got.
It does seem that way. Here's the shortlist for the British Comic Awards in association with Page 45. Whether they want to be or not. Which one could it be?

Hall of Fame
The fourth entrant to the BCA Hall of Fame will be Scottish comics legend and creator of Desperate Dan, Oor Wullie and The Broons, Dudley D. Watkins.
The 4th Annual British Comic Awards Ceremony will take place at 6pm on Friday 13th November in The Carriageworks' Millennium Room as part of the Thought Bubble Festival I'll be attending. Whether Stephen Holland of Page 45 will be there or not, I don't know.
Of course it's not the only controversy Page 45 has just been involved with, as a creator dug up a review of her comics in 2011 by Holland….

Here's the full review for context. The phrase is used twice…
