A Comic Shop Ice Buckets For Charity In Arizona This Weekend
By Alex Wilson
Throughout the social media sphere you've probably seen your friends, relatives, and even a few notable celebrities take on the "ASL Ice Bucket challenge" to raise awareness and money to fight Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
The comic book community has also taken note of this social media charity fad and one Arizona comic book shop owner is not just dumping a bucket full of ice on his head but also donating money to charity, not just once but five times.
Ken Brown of Drawn To Comics in Glendale, Arizona will take the ice bucket challenge five times if people donate $100 to the charity cause. The first $100 ice bucket challenge will be purchased by Drawn To Comics and Brown will begin the charitable festivities with ComiCare, an Arizona organization that delivers donated comic books to children in medical care facilities.
Brown says:
I have been seeing these challenges a lot this past week in different arenas and when I was challenged by one of my customers I was thrilled to get our industry involved in a great cause and I challenge others to get in line and not only represent a great cause but also make a statement about how passionate and how impacting the comic community can be!"
The event will happen this Saturday between 1:00-4:00 PM at Drawn To Comics. You can check out the event here.
If you're able to attend come have some fun for a good cause with the comic book industry.
