A Very New Justice League International (And Emerald Warriors Spoilers)

A Very New Justice League International (And Emerald Warriors Spoilers)

Okay, so *this* was the DC Retro Active book I was waiting for. I remember a palpable sense of loss when the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League ended. I'm still annoyed by it. Was it just me? The sitcom of comic books, it played with comedy and pathos alike, turned the Blue Beetle into a much loved laughing stock, gave J'onn J'onzz a taste of Oreos and also gave us the Batman-Guy Gardner one punch.

And reading the Retroactive 1990s Justice League Of America, I'm right back there. Blue and Gold, Guy, Fire and Ice, Mister Miracle and the Martian Manhunter, Oberon and Max, Power Girl and the cat, Major Disaster, Clock King, Multi-Man, Cluemaster and Big Sir of the Injustice League, they are all here waiting for you, like they had never been away. There have been a number of recent attempts to revive theis particular grouping, but nothing quite as good as when the full, original creative team are on it. Wallow in wonderful nostalgia.

This also ships with the final issue of Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors this week, starring Guy Gardner, teaming up with Batman. And while many of the finishing books have gone with a nostalgic, almost wistful ending, Emerald Warriors is going with a proper Justice League International finish. Looks like it's not just me, then.
