Assistant Editor
Job Description
Support Supervising Editor on their respective projects. These responsibilities include:
1. Report to Senior/Executive Editor on all aspects of book production
2. Track/organize/schedule/traffic titles.
3. Coordinate with senior editorial staff to ensure that character and content developments are planned and shared with the entire staff
4. Assist Supervising Editor to develop new series ideas and initiate projects, which includes the creation of stories or event-driven concepts to increase sales of the titles
5. Convention attendance as required by Publisher or Editor-In-Chief
6. Proofread manuscripts
7. Various writing responsibilities
8. Gather reference materials for freelancers
9. Maintain editorial policy and style
Title Management
Direct Management of at least 2 to 3 titles a month. These responsibilities include:
1. Edit products from start to finish; art edit, color edit, story edit
2. Maintain communication with freelance artists and writers and provide feedback on story and art
3. Ensure content falls within allowable limits of the associated titles and/or imprint
4. Provide final sign-off and approval on all vouchers and payments for work for respective titles
Basic Qualifications:
• Knowledge of comic book industry and trends
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Practiced documentation skills
• Experience managing style and method of standards for creative products
• Basic computer skills
• BA in Journalism, English, Writing or related field
