Comic Idol Abandons Any Semblance Of Democracy

Every now and then a reality show has to confront a voting scandal. Whether its work edited together to elicit a certain reaction, the use of vocoding software, the choice of song or costume or, in some cases, ignoring public votes whatsoever in order to keep a celebrity sweet and the viewers watching.

Well now it is Comic Idol's turn.

Comic Idol Abandons Any Semblance Of Democracy

Currently set up to provide artwork for the webcomic Riot Shell, it's seen as a way for artists to show off their stuff, and fans to vote for their favourite, page after page. But not all is well…

Adrian & Vince also noticed that the voting by title of fans alone, was not delivering the goal they set out for them self's, namely having Adrian's character Riot Shell be presented in the best way possible.

Basically there was organised voting going on. And also the chance that people could "vote for Jon Sergeant", i.e., vote for whatever page they found amusing or provocative rather than which best told the story.

So now its down to judges Marc Silvesti, Joe Benitez and Martin Möntiel to make the decisions instead.

So expect a lot more striding and stopping in poses. And less heads shaped like penises.
