Gareb Shamus Buys Another Comic Con – This Time It's New England!

Oh you think you're so hot collecting those Blackest Night promotional rings. Well Gareb Shamus beats you hands down, collecting comic book conventions.

He recently picked up the Toronto Con, now he's ticked off New England Comic Con on the checklist.

The con has been running since the seventies in Boston, run by comic store owner Larry Harrison and Jimmy Tournasm who will continue to work at the show, while grinning at the big Gareb Shamus-signed cheques in their back pockets. Naturally Larry gave a big smiling endorsement in a press release saying;

Working with Gareb is an awesome experience. The folks at Wizard World have a great sense of how to grow the show in a way that I've always wanted to see it flourish. This should be the best comic con the city of Boston has ever seen.

The convention has already seen some changes, before this year it was known as the Boston Comic Con and then changed its name to New England Comic Con. Now they'll be adding Wizard World to that. Next year maybe Ye Olde at the beginning. You never know.

The press release also states that this is but one of a number of comic convention acquisitions from Gareb Shamus that we can expect to hear about in the next few weeks.

There is as yet no news at to whether Eliza Dushku or Warren Ellis will be attending this. And Reed has yet to confirm whether they will now also suddenly be hosting a Boston con. And I'm sure Scott Kurtz will have something to say. Obviously there will be people ready to say what a bad idea this all is. There will probably be some politics involved. And I will be schooled and schooled hard.

But, as it stands, it's someone with money pumping some of that money into an existing comic con. Which can only make it better, as happened with Big Apple Comic Con this year.

And pumping in wrestlers.

And possibly William Shatner.
