Graphic.Ly Buys iFanboy
A few months ago they were a start-up company in the North East of England, competing for grants investment from venture capital firms. Now they are making investments of their own.
The digital comics publishing company Graphic.Ly has bought the comics podcast site iFanboy.com. And it's not just for the excellent forward-thinking URL.
Graphic.Ly will be integrating the iFanboy podcasts into their own site, giving them an instant community, the kind that would otherwise take years to build.
iFanboy's site goes on and on and on about how independent they will remain, how Graphic.Ly will install a firewall to protect editorial control, and the podcast will still cover competing services such as Longbox or PanelFly.
You all saw Crossed Day yesterday, right?
Oh, but I kid… this is a very positive sign that as comics begin to move from predominantly print to predominantly digital, they're committed to taking the existing fans with them.
And odds are there'll be more and more for iFanboy to podcast about…
