New Comic Book Store Lunatix Comix Opened in Topeka, Kansas This Month
Lunatix Comix is a new comic book store that had its grand opening in Topeka, Kansas this month. The store owners are wife and husband team Stacy Rinehart and Ryan Rinehart and the store gets its name from their dog Luna. The store had a ribbon-cutting and a raffle for original art for opening day which you can watch here.
Oh, and a cake too.
With new comics and vintage comics from their own collection, Ryna has boasted to some customers that a few of the comics in the glass display cases were the first comics he ever bought. And he only got back into collecting comic books five years ago after his mother asked him to help clean out her basement, and found his old comics… and realised that the decades had been kind to their value, if not their condition.
Lunatix Comix is open every day but Monday and Tuesday, at 4035 SW 10th Ave in Fleming Place off 10th Gage (whatever that means) between Paisanos and Blackbird, next to Shelter Insurance and King Pharmacy. If you know Topeka, odds are you now have a pretty good idea.
Pop down and let us know what you think…
Bleeding Cool tries to mark the opening and passing of comics stores. Existing fanbases are likely to make the latter more well known, but please let us know if a comic store is opening or closing in your neighbourhood. Just e-mail richjohnston@bleedingcool.com.
