As we mentioned previously on Bleeding Cool, the very cool press Locust Moon, who have been raking in the Eisner and Harvey Awards this year for their massive format talent-packed book Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream, in homage to Winsor McCay, have embarked on a new project with the Philadelphia Museum of Art that really does dignify the comics medium with the attention it deserves. There's a major exhibition running right now at the museum titled WRATH OF THE GODSwhich celebrates work surrounding Rubens' painting "Prometheus Bound". In tandem with the exhibition, Locust Moon have edited and published a prestige format one-shot comic called Prometheus Eternal presenting Prometheus-based comics to the world. The comic is currently placed only a few feet away from Rubens' painting on display in the museum. How's that for presenting comics as a significant art form?
But the comic itself does contain the work of comic masters from Dave McKean to Grant Morrison teaming up with Farel Dalrymple, David Mack, Paul Pope, Andrea Tsurumi, and more. It's a gorgeous book that I managed to get an early copy of at Baltimore Comic Con, so I can give you a preview. The covers are by Bill Siekiewicz.
But first let me inform you that you'll be able to order the book now for arrival the first week of December. It's currently listed in Previews Magazine under item code OCT151540. It will also play a part in the Locust Moon Comics Festival happening on Halloween, October 31st in Philadelphia. There will be a book signing and panel discussion featuring Bill Sienkiewicz, David Mack and Yuko Shimizu on October 28th. On October 30th, the Museum will host an all-star Drink & Draw to kick off the Locust Moon Comics Festival weekend.
Now here are some photos I took of the book for you:
