The Steampunk Detective Adventures Of Tom Sawyer And Huckleberry Finn

Sometimes, to create a new show, you just need to throw a bunch of random ideas into a tombola, draw out a handful and put them in the order that makes the most sense. That is, as I understand, how shows like Biker Mice From Mars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came into being.

The latest concoction to be produced by this process is this: Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are reunited in their twenties and set up an investigative firm in steampunk New Orleans. The show – currently titled Finn & Sawyer – is being developed for ABC by Jason Richman and David Zabel (Detroit 1-8-7). THR reports that Richman and Zabel are currently onboard as writers and executive producers for the show.

Odds are currently 1:8 that the set-up will turn out to be merely a Calvin and Hobbes style elaborate childhood fantasy, and at the end of each episode we'll cut to the two "detectives" on a riverside hunt for Aunt Polly's lost button.
