To suggest that it is the teachers' faults for creating the United States' low ranking in math is preposterous. Furlough days are days that the district has forced teachers to take off without pay, due to recent cuts in budget.
Any suggestion that these days are somehow given freely and without painstaking care is ignorant and insulting — thousands of teachers, already underpaid, are required to take a day without pay and without choice. These are men and women who are supporting families, already trying to make a decent living, and this strip makes light of the subject.

NOT ALL CREATED EQUALLY… or Wondercon & Uncanny X-Men Variants
Before the Con opened, Marvel web marketing manager Ryan Penagos walked the floor, and let us know that the variants would not be sold in bulk quantity nor discounted pricing, with the retail price of about $10. When at the Marvel booth, the actual price was $10.99, as they accepted credit cards (visa & mastercard) only, using an iPad and a Square processing unit. Although not normally set up for retail themselves, Marvel got the bearings right away.

Artist Mike Grell and writer Dennis O'Neil return to the character of Hal Jordan in a new epic that finds the Earthborn Green Lantern on a spacefaring thrill.
When Time Warner attempts to stop the Siegels and Shusters from doing something that is clearly within their rights to do, it makes you wonder what Time Warner thinks they will get out of this. The Siegels and Shusters will receive the rights to Superman back and when they do, I anticipate they will be much less inclined to deal with Time Warner and DC Comics.
SLMI claims that it was assigned Stan Lee's intellectual property in 1998 just months before Lee's most popular (and lucrative) characters were assigned to Marvel Entertainment. We've obtained exclusive documents never before published that show early negotiations between Lee, represented by his lawyer, Arthur Lieberman, and Marvel's general counsel at the time, Turk Hardie. Here, for example, is Lieberman's mark-up of the first contract sent in 1998 by Marvel to Lee. If the case gets to trial, the plaintiffs will likely use this to show that Lee refused to state to Marvel that he made the characters for hire and didn't disclose he no longer controlled them fully.
