Tensions Run High With Sibling Rivalry In Legends Of Baldur's Gate #4
From IDW Publishing, Legends of Baldur's Gate #4 written by Jim Zub with art by Max Dunbar, has been my only Dungeons and Dragons fix lately. (If you can even call it that.) I fell behind an issue, but was kind of happy I was able to read issue #3 and #4 back to back. At the end of issue #3 an explosive chase scene takes place, and you are led to believe that the people trying to kidnap Delina are the bad guys. However, we learn that the man that caught her is actually her brother, Deniak who she has been searching for.
I've mentioned before that Delina is the reason I am truly entranced by this series. I'm fascinated by her history, and I was happy that a big portion of issue #4 centers in on her relationship with her brother. At the beginning of the issue we get a look back into the past as Delina and Deniak are being mentored in practicing magic. You can immediately sense the tension between the two siblings, especially because of Dunbar's emotional illustration of Deniak reacting to his sister doing well. This came as a bit of a shock to me as a reader because you would never really think that there is animosity between the two, due to Delina's determination to find her brother. However, as the issue continues it becomes very clear that they both went their separate ways and treated their powers differently. It's really exciting to see the two characters abilities and how much they are capable of.
