Today's Comics On… Big Government
In today's Marvel comics, the Avengers and SHIELD get into bed together, more like they are in the movies. So, in All New Marvel Now Point One, the deal is done, as both SHIELD and Avengers are committed to growing bigger, and growing bigger together,
And in Avengers World, the nitty gritty details get a good grilling. So, the Avengers and SHIELD working as one, making an effective world superpower in the process. Which means, according to today's Iron Man..
They have their own version of the NSA. Well, S.H.I.E.L.D. are a spy organisation, or at least they are meant to be. It's only to be expected. In comics, big government really is big government.
Away from Marvel, in Letter 44, out today, the President is urged to go public on their planned First Contact. It's also an explanation for the large spending and wartime excursions of the previous regime – and why the current didn't do much to reign them in.
Although government itself is committed to keeping the status quo, big and unwieldy.

Not much then. It looks like comics government is committed to being go government. Well, they have bigger threats to deal with, I suppose. Maybe it's time to get down with the Tea Party.
