Tommy Gun Wizards Covers Up Its Own Title With Wooden Planks Over Trademark Threat
Tommy Gun Wizards, the comic book from Christian Ward and Sami Kivelä has gone through a bit of a Dead Rabbit-style trademark clash. Just before publication of the third issue, publisher Dark Horse Comics was hit with a Cease & Desist over the name of the comic. As a result, while no demand has been made of comic book stores to pull remaining copies, as happened with Dead Rabbit, but all digital copies have been pulled off ComiXology and #3 didn't even make it to digital.
Previous listings have all be pulled off Diamond's site as well. Though there are still Google caches.
The comic has now been retitled Machine Gun Wizards, the fourth issue will now have 'redacted' covers, that just feature as legible words 'Wizards', with 'Tommy Gun' covered up by wooden planks. The collection will feature the new title and logo – once they've had time to design one.
