Venom Finally Looks Like His Chest Symbol
Venom's chest symbol was first seen in the 1980s Secret Wars series, the new Spider-Woman's chest symbol which was then picked up by Spider-Man when he encountered the symbiote that would be Venom. And gave him a brand-new costume.
The chest symbol still appeared to be that of a spider, but much bigger, white on black, and the legs bunched together. And when the symbiote left Spider-Man, Venom kept the image.
In the recent Venom series, however there was the suggestion that it may mean to represent something other than a spider. And in this week's Venom #5, we get a look at what the Venom symbol may actually be retconned into embodying. And it doesn't mean 'Hope'.
It's a dragon. Venom has always been a dragon.
