Mike Laidlaw Has Announced His Departure From Ubisoft

Some surprising news this past week revolving around Ubisoft as Mike Laidlaw has announced his departure, just over a year after joining the Quebec team. The former Dragon Age creative director left Bioware back in late 2018 to join up with Ubisoft to work on games in the Quebec City office. While we knew Gods & Monsters was being developed there, people suspected there was another project at hand that Laidlaw might have a hand in. Now it appears we'll never really know as January 31st was his last day.

Laidlaw gave a brief update on his Twitter feed, letting people know of the departure. No word as to why he decided to depart the company, or any indication of what he's planning to do next. Obviously, fans would love to see him return to make a new Dragon Age title. Which could be a possibility as BioWare is currently working on Dragon Age: The Dread Wolf Rises. But whether or not he wants to return to that company is an entirely different conversation. We'll see what he ends up doing in the days and months to come. But in the meantime, don't harass the dude over something you don't know he wants to do.
