Team Liquid Bring In A Ringer For 'LoL' Spring Split
As of when we're writing this article, Team Liquid are in dead last at the League Of Legends Spring Split currently happening. As the tournament wraps up, the crew have gone to some extreme measures to pull themselves out of the nosedive they've been taking to get themselves at least into eighth place. Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng has been hired as a ringer to join the team for the remainder of the tourney in a last-minute trade with Team SoloMid, who currently sit in second place.
While Liquid is still a well-known name, they haven't been seeing much glory in tournaments lately. So far the trade hasn't paid off as Liquid lost 0-2 yesterday against the current first place team, Cloud 9. The crew is set to face off against Team EnVyUs (who are currently ranked ninth) tomorrow. We tried reaching out to Team Liquid for a comment yesterday before they went into their match but didn't receive a response. It'll be interesting with just over two weeks worth of play left if they can somehow manage to pick up some victories. But in order for them to place in the tournament and not be regulated to a "Promotional Tournament" in a few weeks, they'll need to win every game moving forward and hope that either Echo Fox or Team Dignitas end up choking at the end. Regardless, it's going to be interesting to watch and see if this trade has any impact on the remaining games, or if Team Liquid will need to rethink their lineup and strategy once the dust settles.
