Abra Spotlight Hour will take place from 6 PM to 7 PM today, Junen8th, and will see the game flooded with Abra spawns. Even spawn points that aren't usually active on your map in Pokémon GO will pop with Abra encounters. This Psychic-type Pokémon is Shiny-capable, as it Shiny was released during its 2020 Community Day. Now, that said, this isn't expected to be that exciting of a Spotlight Hour, as Abra is a common spawn and a Community Day Shiny, meaning that most trainers will have more than their share. However, there is always someone who missed out and would rather catch than trade, so here is a tip!

The odds of catching a Shiny Abra are one in approximately 500 (it was once thought to be 450 but Silph Researchers have since updated their findings). It's not possible to increase those odds, but it is possible to increase the number of encounters you're able to experience in an hour. Utilizing the Quick Catch Method, which you can learn about here, can cut the catch animation and make your catches in Pokémon GO much more efficient even outside of Spotlight Hour.

This week's Spotlight Hour bonus is one that can be taken advantage of while catching, but it is, unfortunately, a limited feature. We're getting double catch Candy, which isn't quite as exciting when the Pokémon that we'll be primarily catching is already quite common. If you live in a biome where Abra is less common, though, this will be a good chance to stock up on Candy and get an Alakazam or twenty.

The rest of the June 2021 Spotlight Hours in Pokémon GO include:

Tuesday, June 15, 2021: Slowpoke will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.

Tuesday, June 22, 2021: Swinub will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.

Tuesday, June 29, 2021: Aipom will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
