EA Exec Says He Expects Kojima And Konami to Kiss And Make Up

kojimaThe Konami/ Hideo Kojima story has more or less been the most important and ongoing of this year in the world of video games. The seeming break up has trundled on and on and on, with Konami having taken the brunt of hits form fans and the media

However, EA COO Peter Moore has said that he expects the two to recover from their difference. Speaking to Gamespot (via MCV), when asked if EA would like to work with Hideo Kojima if he leaves the company as expected after Metal Gear Solid V, Moore said he thinks the Konami and the developer will mend their difference.

I just think both of them should kiss and make up.

From my experience, and I've spent a lot of time working in Japan, I think that Konami and Kojima will figure it out. Those kinds of business relationships [in Japan] are typically for life, and Kojima is such an important part in what has gone on there.

Clearly, they're at a rocky stage in their marriage. But you could take what is said about [Kojima Productions], about a game not adhering to budgets, about a game not being ready, and you could apply that to a lot of people.

While I think this is unlikely, and this could well have just been Moore being politically savvy, I suppose it isn't impossible. With the game coming and everyone in a high pressure state, maybe tempers have flown around fast and loose. Once the game is out and the dust is settled, there could be some common ground found again…maybe.

Like I said, I wouldn't hold my breath, but we've seen bigger break ups be mended. Hell, classic bands do it all the time. This break up seen the destruction of Kojima Productions and the like though, so any ongoing relationship would have a fair bit of repairing to get done.
