American Gladiators: Miz-Hosted Version Looks Better Than We Expected

Prime Video released the trailer for its ten-episode reboot of American Gladiators, which will run for three weeks starting April 17th.

American Gladiators is back. Again. But this time it looks a lot more like the show we all fell in love with in the 80's. Hosted by Mike "The Miz" Mizanin and Rocsi Diaz, this version of the show will air for ten episodes on Prime Video over three weeks, starting on April 17th. The contestants will be vying for a $100,000 prize. Also of note, Jelly Roll contributed the show's theme song. The Gladiators are a mix of professional wrestlers, including AEW's Wardlow (who is also from my area, shout out the 440!), fitness coaches, American Ninja Warrior contestants, gymnasts, and more.

American Gladiators Filmed In France, LOL

"The show you know and love is back! 24 contenders face 16 Gladiators in intense events like Joust, Powerball, Hang Tough, The Wall, The Ring, and Collision. Each episode's Eliminator determines who advances. One man and one woman win $100,000 and the title, proving their strength, speed, and determination through grueling physical challenges that test every athletic ability." Here is your list of American Gladiators and their codenames:

  • Abigail Lay – Blaze

When I pressed play on that trailer, I expected the worst. I was wrong. This version of American Gladiators has the look and feel of the old one. A lot of that probably has to do with them bringing back so many of the classic games they used to play. Having The Miz as host was a genius pick as well. The man oozes charisma and charm, and I am happy to see him thinking more and more about life after the WWE. I did not expect to be excited for this, yet here we are. I will be there with bells on April 17.
