Captain Marvel Star Samuel L. Jackson Wants to Explore Fury's Spy Past
One of the things about Captain Marvel that makes it interesting is that we're exploring a time period in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we've never seen before. There are huge sections of history in this world, rather recent history we might add, where we don't know what was going on. There has been exactly one show, Agent Carter, that filled in some of the gaps and there have been some flashbacks in various movies. Besides that, we know very little about the time between World War II ending and Tony Stark becoming Iron Man. One of the people we don't know that much about is Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson recently got the chance to speak to CinemaBlend and he explained what parts of Fury's past he'd like to explore.
Part of his service record and also the fact that he was a spy for a while. Where was he, what was he doing, how did he meet this particular person?… He met Natasha through the whole spy thing, I'd like to explore that a bit. I'd also like to know what he was doing after Winter Soldier when they said go to Europe and find out what's going on.
Fury was a soldier and spy during the height of the cold war and that is quite an interesting time in history. We know that Hank Pym might have been active at the time Fury was working in SHIELD. Then we also have a character like the Winter Soldier who was active on and off throughout history. There are so many interesting tangents we could explore and it's going to be interesting to see what time period the Marvel Cinematic Universe decides to expand next.
Summary: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also star Brie Larson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
