Colin Trevorrow Announced Last Week That Star Wars Episode IX Draft Is Done, But No One Cared Until Today
Hi folks. We here at Bleeding Cool feel that we should be up front and honest with you, the reader, so we're just going to let you know right now that this is a story about a video that was released on MTV's Facebook page over a week ago, but it's making its way around the 24 hour entertainment news cycle today because some master baiter figured out how to pop a headline on it that will get clicks, which means all other entertainment websites have to follow suit. How did we all get to this place, you ask? Us, writing a clickbait article about wishy washy comments a Star Wars director made at Cinema Con eight days ago, and you reading it? It's better that you don't ask.
Instead, know this. Colin Trevorrow was asked whether he's got a draft yet for Star Wars Episode IX, and after trying to dodge the question for a bit, he eventually said, "We're writing, and we're designing, and there is a draft. We're throwing 110 percent of our souls into it, so there will be nothing left of me when I'm done." It sounds like the script is very much in progress, but there's something complete, and they're still working on it. But hey, "Star Wars Episode IX Draft Is Done" sounded like it meant something when you read the headline, didn't it?
Trevorrow also mostly avoided revealing anything substantial about how he views the job of directing the final film in the Star Wars saga, explaining, "I think about it in the context of three films, six films, nine films, and one film." We probably should have saved that one for an article with the headline "Colin Trevorrow Thinks About Jar Jar Binks While Working On Star Wars Episode IX." Oh well.
Star Wars Episode IX is rumored to start production in July, so Trevorrow will have to be done by that point. We'll update you a few dozen times between now and then.
