"Emma' Trailer: Anya Taylor-Joy Takes Over the Iconic Role in February

Emma, Jane Austen's classic novel, is coming back to theaters yet again. This time she will be portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy (Peaky Blinders, Glass, Split). The film debuted it's trailer this morning, and it certainly has a The Favourite vibe to it. The film is directed by Autumn de Wilde and written by Eleanor Catton, both making their feature film debuts. Check out the trailer below:

Jane Austen's beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending, is reimagined in this delicious new film adaptation of EMMA. Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.

I love the vibe here. God know this story has been done to death in both television and film, most notably the 1996 Emma film starring Gweneth Paltrow and 1995's Clueless, which was loosely based on the book. Everyone looks like they are having fun, especially Taylor-Joy and Bill Nighy. Everything about this feels bright, vibrant, and most of all fun.

Emma, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, Josh O'Connor, Callum Turner, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson, Tanya Reynolds and Connor Swindells opens on February 21, 2020.
