If At First You Don't Succeed… Try, Try Again With An Animated Ghost In The Shell Reboot

ghostintheshell

After months of criticism about whitewashing, followed by poor reviews and poor word of mouth, Ghost In The Shell bombed hard in its opening weekend at the box office, taking in less than $19 million dollars and underperforming against even the $25 million projection which was itself reduced from early tracking at $40 million or higher. The movie is expected to lose money when all is said and done, and Paramount execs admitted that the whitewashing complaints affected the reviews, which hurt the box office, just as Bleeding Cool predicted would happen. (Pip pip.)

So it's back to the drawing board, then. Literally. Because there's a new animated version of Ghost in the Shell in development from Kodansha and Production I.G., according to a report from THRKenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki will direct the new film, which will hopefully wash away the stench of Paramount's live action attempt.

And then, in about 20 years, we can try this all over again.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
