The Castle Of Horror Podcast Presents: Christopher Lee In The Devil Rides Out
By Jason Henderson, Drew Edwards, Tony Salvaggio, and Julia Guzman
[audio:http://recordings.talkshoe.com/TC-99734/TS-998254.mp3]Bleeding Cool welcomes back The Castle of Horror Podcast tonight, a weekly internet radio show where professional writers in the comics, games and book industries take a look at horror movies, choosing one movie a week to discuss in depth.
They say:
If you've ever wondered what a Dr. Strange movie would be like starring Christopher Lee, this is it. This week we wrap up our retrospective in honor of the late, great Sir Christopher Lee with a look at Lee's favorite of his Hammer movies The Devil Rides Out, based on a book by a writer Lee lobbied to have Hammer adapt, Dennis Wheatley. In 1967, right between his second and third outing as Hammer's Dracula, Chris Lee portrayed the Van Helsing-like (and Van Dyke-wearing) occult hero Duke Nicholas in a film scripted by Richard Matheson. The movie is real surprise that shows an alternate path that Lee's career could have taken and was intended to launch a series. (Isn't it cool to think that there's an alternate universe out there where this in fact occurred?
