The Various Spider-People Need Each Other in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
It turns out that being bitten by a spider doesn't exactly turn you into a team player. At least not in the case of the older and much more jaded version of Peter Parker that Jake Johnson is playing in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. As Johnson told Entertainment Weekly, these various spider-people don't really want to need each other, but they kind of do.
"They see something special in each other that they don't necessarily see in themselves," Johnson says. "They don't necessarily want to need each other, but then in the end, they kind of need each other."
We already know that this movie is going to lean in hard when it comes to the various spider-people. Or not all people, because we are also getting Peter Porker, the Spider-Ham, on the big screen. And a version of Spider-Man Noir, voiced by Nicolas Cage. If nothing else this movie is going to give Spider-Man fans a bunch of deep cuts that they can laugh at.
Summary: Spider-Man crosses parallel dimensions and teams up with the Spider-Men of those dimensions to stop a threat to all reality.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, stars Shameik Moore, Liev Schreiber, Lily Tomlin, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Luna Lauren Velez, and Hailee Steinfeld. It will be released on December 14th.
