Brady Bunch Icon Mom Florence Henderson Dies At 82
Florence Henderson, actress and singer best remembered for her iconic role as Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch (1969-1974) died Thursday of heart failure at the age of 82. The "story of a lovely lady" has ended, it seems, but will live on forever in re-runs, on youtube and in pop culture echos such as the now-infamous "Marsha Marsha Marsha" scene that has been remixed into commercials and comedy sketches to this day.
Henderson was born in 1934 in Dale, Indiana and began a career in musicals in the early 1950s in staple productions such as Oklahoma! and South Pacific. After appearing in a series of tv commercials in the early 1960s, she became the first woman to guest host The Tonight Show in 1962.
The actress died November 24 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She is survived by four children, 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
