FOX's 'The Masked Singer' Returning for Second Surreal Season
With an announcement as "shocking" as a CNN news ticker breaking that water is wet and fire is hot, FOX made it official: righteously popular breakaway celebrity competition series The Masked Singer will be back for a second surreal season. Considering the show sits at the top of the charts for both new series and top unscripted , drawing in more than 17 million multi-platform viewers for the premiere episode.
If those numbers aren't enough to convince you, consider these:

● The Masked Singer premiere had the greatest Live+7 gain from Live+Same Day among unscripted debuts ever in both adults 18-49 demos (4.2/17 L7, +1.2 from L+SD) and total viewers (13.0 L7 million, +3.6 million vs. L+SD).
● The singing competition has the highest-rated unscripted debut on any network in more than seven years (not including post-NFL telecasts), this season's No. 1-t debut on any network and the top reality broadcast of the past two seasons (topping The Voice, American Idol, and America's Got Talent).
● The Masked Singer's 17.6 million multi-platform viewers makes it the network's most-watched unscripted debut in 11 years – while the 3.6 million viewers on Hulu and Fox Now mark the network's most-streamed episode ever.
"The response to The Masked Singer has been fantastic and we are thrilled to bring it back for another season. I am so happy to see a singing Peacock burst into pop culture! The Masked Singer is unique, bold, original and embraces the DNA of all the best Fox unscripted shows. We look forward to Season Two being even more fun, weird and wonderful than the first."
– Rob Wade, President, Alternative Ent. and Specials, Fox Broadcasting Company
The Masked Singer features celebrities competing against one another – with a huge twist: each singer is shrouded from head to toe in an elaborate costume, complete with full face mask to conceal his or her identity. Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke serve on the panel, playing detective alongside series host Nick Cannon. The series is based on the original South Korean hit series.
Produced by Endemol Shine North America, The Masked Singer is executive-produced by Craig Plestis and Izzie Pick Ibarra, with Alex Rudzinski directing. Cannon, Nikki Varhely Gillingham, and Rosie Seitchik serve as co-executive producers.
