"Midnight Mass": Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel & Hamish Linklater Join "The Haunting of Hill House" Duo's Upcoming Netflix Horror Series
Netflix continues amping up the fear factor, with Midnight Mass adding Zach Gilford (The Purge: Anarchy), Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House), and Hamish Linklater (Legion) as leads in the seven-episode horror series from The Haunting of Hill House duo Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy and their Intrepid Pictures. With Flanagan set to direct the first season, production is expected to begin this spring in Vancouver.
Gilford, Siegel, and Linklater join Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House), Michael Trucco (Hunter Killer), Samantha Sloyan (Grey's Anatomy), Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House),Rahul Abburi (Killer Ransom), Crystal Balint (The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco), Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep), Rahul Kohli (I, Zombie), Kristin Lehman (The Chronicles of Riddick), Robert Longstreet (Doctor Sleep), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods). and Annarah Shephard. Character names and descriptions have not been released.
Stemming from a multi-year television deal between the streaming service and Flanagan and Macy's Intrepid Pictures, Midnight Mass focuses on an isolated island community experiencing miraculous events and frightening omens after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.
Flanagan and Macy are riding high off of the success of Haunting of Hill House (with follow-up anthology season The Haunting of Bly Manor), a modern series take on Shirley Jackson's classic horror/thriller novel. Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Victoria Pedretti, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, and Timothy Hutton starred in the Netflix series.
