Missing California Woman Found as Contestant on The Bachelor
In a case of, "that turned out far better than we could've hoped", a woman reported missing in Humboldt County, CA has been found, as a contestant on The Bachelor. On Thursday, the North Coast Journal, a Northern California newspaper, had a cover story about the alarmingly high number of missing persons reported in Humboldt County and asked readers of their Facebook page if they recognized any of the individuals listed. One reader, Amy Bonner O'Brien posted, "Yep, Rebekah Martinez is on this season of The Bachelor."
Not knowing that her daughter was a contestant on the series, her mother reported her missing on November 18th, saying she had last spoke to her daughter on November 12th. She told the sheriff's department that her daughter had gone to Humboldt to work on a marijuana farm. It's not clear if she was an active participant in the series at the time the report was filed. Martinez contacted her mother later the same day and the sheriffs were notified on December 12th. But since they could not make direct contact with Martinez, the case remained open. They have since been in contact and removed her from the system.
Known as Bekah M. on the show, the contestant took the new in stride, tweeting out : "MOM. how many times do I have to tell you I don't get cell service on The Bachelor?"
Bekah M has stood out this season because of her shot haircut, something that has not been seen on the series so far, and a 14-year age different between herself and bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr.
