Monsters: Javier Bardem, Chloë Sevigny Join "Menendez Story" Season

Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story has cast Javier Bardem & Chloë Sevigny as Lyle & Erik's parents.

In 2022, Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan and the team behind DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story chronicled Jeffrey Dahmer's (Evan Peters) gruesome murders between 1978 and 1991 – shining a light on how society repeatedly failed the serial killer's victims and their families, allowing Dahmer's killing spree to continue. In 2024, Murphy & Brennan's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story will tackle the high-profile case that grabbed the headlines in the '90s – two brothers who killed their parents in 1989 and the events surrounding the brutal slayings.

Now, Netflix has confirmed that Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny have joined the cast in the role of Lyle & Erik's parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. The casting news follows the announcement back in early 2023 that the true-crime anthology series would be returning for two seasons. In May 2023, it was confirmed that the Lyle and Erik Menendez case would be the focus of the second season (with no word yet on what the focus of the third season could be).

Set to premiere on Netflix later this year, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story follows Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Erik Menendez (Cooper Koch), two brothers who fatally shot their parents (Bardem, Sevigny) in their Beverly Hills home in 1989. During their trials, the brothers cited years of abuse as the reason for murdering their parents. However, prosecutors argued that their motive was to get their hands on the family fortune. Alexis Martin Woodall (Dahmer, American Horror Story, Feud), Eric Kovtun (Dahmer, The Watcher, Ratched), David McMillan (Dahmer), Louise Shore (Lessons in Chemistry, American Crime Story), and Carl Franklin (Dahmer, Good Behavior) serve as executive producers alongside Murphy and Brennan. Netflix is hoping that the second season could repeat the viewing number that "Dahmer" pulled off – with the record-breaker bringing in 1 billion (yup, that's with a "B") viewing hours in its first 60 days on the streaming service.
