One Piece Star Iñaki Godoy Meets Manga Creator Eiichiro Oda (VIDEO)
In the following production featurette, Netflix's One Piece star Iñaki Godoy had a chance to meet & speak with manga creator Eiichiro Oda.
Over the past few days, fans have been treated to some very cool updates on Netflix, Tomorrow Studios (Netflix's Cowboy Bebop, TNT's Snowpiercer) & publisher Shueisha's live-action series take on author Eiichiro Oda's manga One Piece. From a behind-the-scenes featurette and a letter from Eiichiro Oda offering advice on the best way to screen the streaming series to the release of a very special trailer, the hits have kept on coming – and they don't look to be ending anytime soon. And what better way to make that point than with a new featurette showcasing the opportunity that series star Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy) had to meet & speak with Eiichiro Oda about the manga and anime and what it was like bringing the story to live-action life.
Here's a look at a very wonderful & heartfelt moment – and make sure to check out Godoy's reaction to the manga creator telling him that he couldn't imagine anyone else in the role and how much his performance made him laugh – really sweet scenes (note: no, there's nothing wrong with the video – Eiichiro Oda doesn't want their face appearing on camera):
And here's a look at a Japanese dub of the official trailer with voices we're sure that you will recognize. That's because the original anime Straw Hat voice actors (Mayumi Tanaka, Kazuya Nakai, Akemi Okamura, Kappei Yamaguchi, and Hiroaki Hirata) are reprising their roles for the streaming series (news that we first learned about back in July):
Earlier this week, fans were treated to a behind-the-scenes featurette giving us a chance to see how the classic made the jump from ink to live-action. The streamer has never-before-seen interviews with the cast and the creative team (done well before the SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes) discussing bringing Oda's iconic work in a brand new & exciting way, what went into finding the perfect cast, the impressive stunt coordination that we'll see this season, and much more.
Here's a look at the official trailer for Netflix's One Piece, with the streaming series adaptation setting sail on August 31st – and following that, we have a look back at the previously-released teaser trailer and additional information on the streaming series adaptation:
