NFL Fan Names Newborn Son Cameron Luuuke… Yes, With 3 U's

DeeJay Howell is a big Carolina Panthers fan. How big? Well, the 33-year-old Kings Mountain, NC man named his new born son Cameron Luuuke after starting quarterback Cam Newton and starting middle linebacker Luke Kuechly. Cameron Luuuke Howell was born July 1st at CaroMont Regional Medical Center weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz.

And, no, I'm not misspelling his middle name. The added U's in the name are there because of they way fans yell "Luuuke" every time Kuechly makes a play. Howell told GoUpstate.com, "Put two on there and people will think we misspelled it or something. Three seems more intentional. I want to give props to Luke and his career that he's had."

Howell admires both players. Cam for his uniqueness and swagger while Luke for his steadiness and reliability.

How does his wife Sandy feel about that name? "He was writing it on the birth certificate in the hospital. He was asking about the U's. I said, 'You can do two' and said no more. He said, 'What about three?' I said, 'Whatever.' I said, 'This is your story. This is your name.' I'm just a good wife that let him pick the name."

He hopes this season will be as memorable for the Panthers as it will be for DeeJay and his new son. "This year there's going to be so many pictures, so many videos, so many firsts of him doing whatever," Howell said. "It's going to be hard for him not knowing where he came from."

Howell's goal is for his son to meet Newton and Kuechly and have each autograph the birth certificate.
