Stephen Colbert Channels Hannibal Lecter with Guest Jody Foster
A few episodes back on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host got to play opposite Mark Hamill in a Star Wars parody sketch, last night he dove into another classic film, Silence of the Lambs. His guest, Jody Foster, reprised her role as Clarice Starling and came to visit Doctor Hannibal Lecter for help. Instead of Anthony Hopkins, we get Colbert as Lecter. And the subject matter went a bit political.
Colbert figures Clarice is one of "Robert Mueller's" showing this was going to go after the Russian Collusion investigation, and it went there immediately. Clarice wanting to know about Donald Trump. The 'Quid Pro Quo' she has to give is her memory of election night and in return, Lecter asks for what they have on Trump so far. After giving a long list of items including indictments, meetings and tweets, Lecter seems genuinely surprised that Clarice needs him with all that evidence. Her response is that she wants to get in the cell with Lecter, saying that even though he is a cannibal, it still seems safer in there than than in the regular world.
Colbert does a half-way decent job of impersonating Hopkins version of Lecter. Enough so to pull off the sketch.
