While the cast and crew of Stranger Things' fifth and final season are ready to go, at least one holdover from season four, Eduardo Franco hasn't heard anything from Netflix about reprising his role as Argyle, the stoner pizza delivery driver who helps the Hawkins youths reunite for their inevitable battle against the Vecna. The actor appeared on the Steve Varley Show to promote his Hulu comedy film Self Reliance. When Varley brought up the cast photo as production was set to begin, he asked Franco to state the obvious as fans speculated that he wouldn't return.
Stranger Things 5: Will We See the Return of Eduardo Franco's Argyle?
"It's nice to hear that there's some sort of concern or something, but I never got a phone call. I think that's it [laughs]," Franco said. The actor is a regular on the Netflix children's series Gabby's Dollhouse and also lent his voice in the 2022 DreamWorks Animated feature Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken. He'll also appear in the upcoming legacy sequel Shrunk opposite Josh Gad and the long-anticipated return of Rick Moranis in his first on-screen role in over two decades. Franco appeared in every Stranger Things season four episode as Argyle bonded with Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) following the family's move to California at the end of season three. Both work at Surfer Boy Pizza as the two became friends in 1986. When Jonathan's place is invaded by the military, Argyle rescues him along with Nancy Wheeler's (Natalia Dyer) brother Mike (Noah Schnapp) and a dying Agent Harmon (Ira Amyx).
Once Argyle's briefed on the Hawkins Gang's supernatural misadventures with the Upside Down, he would help in reuniting them with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who's being held at the very underground compound she grew up in, on his pizza mobile, a Volkswagen Vanagon. Eventually, they would be reunited with Karen (Cara Buono), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve (Joe Keery), and Robin (Maya Hawke). Yes, Argyle does survive to the end of the season. Whether he will return in some cameo remains to be seen, given the hyped-up and secretive nature of the Netflix series. For more, you can check out the video below. There's no release date for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
