'The Twilight Zone': Seth Rogen Set to Enter Jordan Peele's New Dimension of Sight, Sound
What better way to celebrate being only one month away from the April 1 premiere of CBS All Access' The Twilight Zone reboot than with a casting announcement? Because that's what the streaming service has for you, with news that Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express, Steve Jobs) will join the anthology series reboot. The new series launches its first two episodes on April 1, with new episodes debuting Thursdays starting April 11.
Little is known about the still-untitled episode other than it's set to written by "Key & Peele" alum Alex Rubens.
Rogen joins a very long and impressive line-up of names, each one looking to take their turn stepping through the doorway to a new dimension of sight and sound; including: Kumail Nanjiani, Sanaa Lathan, Alison Tolman, John Chu, Jacob Tremblay, Rhea Seehorn, Jessica Williams, DeWanda Wise, Adam Scott, Tracy Morgan, Steven Yeun, Greg Kinnear, Luke Kirby, and Chris Diamantopoulos.
While Rogen will be keeping his behind-the-camera directorial skills in check for this project, directors for this new edition of the sci-fi anthology include The First Purge's Gerard McMurray and Quarry showrunner Greg Yaitanes.
"Too many times this year it's felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can't think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences."
– Jordan Peele, Host/Executive Producer
"The Twilight Zone was a touchstone in my life. The opportunity to continue its lineage is a dream come true, and I'm so thrilled to be doing it with Jordan, Marco and the team at CBS All Access."
– Simon Kinberg, Executive Producer
The original The Twilight Zone took viewers to another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. It was a journey into a wondrous land of imagination for five years on CBS, from 1959-1964. The godfather of sci-fi series, the show explored humanity's hopes, despairs, prides and prejudices in metaphoric ways conventional drama could not.
The Twilight Zone is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg's Genre Films. Peele, Kinberg and Marco Ramirez will serve as executive producers for the series and collaborate on the premiere episode. Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon will also serve as executive producers.
