Jimmy Olsen did not know Superman was dead, yet. Why would he?

We saw the aftermath in The DC Universe: Rebirth. Police, FBI, and paramedics were called, but Jimmy Olsen did not know that Superman had died.

Journalist Linda Park (not from the Daily Planet) had the story. But Jimmy Olsen did not.

I mean he threw his remote his TV when it came on. Maybe he considered it to be an Orson Welles-style prank or something. Because, at this moment, he doesn't know that Superman is dead. Honest.

Superman Rebirth 1

In Superman: Rebirth, Metropolis was building a monument to Superman. The bearded Pre 52 Superman visited in subterfuge. But Jimmy Olsen has somehow avoided the news.

In Justice League #52, the Daily Planet has been given Superman's cape which they are using for a memorial. But Jimmy Olsen, who works for the Daily Planet, somehow has no clue that Superman is dead.

Lex Luthor buys the Daily Planet to get the cape. Again, Jimmy Olsen doesn't notice a thing.

And in Action Comics, Lex Luthor wears that cape and mentions Superman's death to a crowd.

Only then does Jimmy Olsen realise that Superman – and Clark Kent – is dead.

And Pre 52 Superman outs himself, after shaving his beard.
