Donald Is #1: Donald Duck Timeless Tales Volume 2
I have an extreme bias with Donald Duck. He was my favorite as a child, and even as an adult I find his antics endearing. No offence, Mickey.
Anyway, in Donald Duck Timeless Tales #2, we get more of the short tempered duck! This book collects issues #7-12 of Donald Duck of the series, with various artists contributing to the issues. We open with "Truth or Consequences", where Donald is trying to get out of going to an event by pretending to be sick…Only to turn around and take on a job simply because it pays good money. When his cousin Fethry calls Donald out on lying to him, Donald tries to play it off.
This will eventually bite him in the tail feathers, but like most Disney there will be a good outcome. Artists Flemming Andersen and Tony Strobl do a fantastic job of mimicking classic Disney style, but with their own twist. Plus it just seems like Donald is a lot of fun. He is after all, a drama king.
The first story interested me for another reason; it was originally a German story published in 2004. I love that IDW is bringing over foreign stories and making them available for the US market. This is a must have for any Disney fan, as readers of all ages will enjoy it.
