'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Director On Bringing Spider-Man To The MCU

We're in the home stretch for Spider-Man: Homecoming. The movie is so close that you can practically feel Sony sitting on the edge of their seats eager for us to see their new final project and whether or not we're going to give it an A+. Director Jon Watts and star Tom Holland were at CineEurope and they spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the movie and the entire experience of being involved with such a large project. They premiered the first thirteen minutes of the movie to audiences and Holland spoke about how he still can't believe that this is real life.

"i can't quite believe what's happening to my life right now, I'm so happy," Holland told THR at a photocall on Sunday. "I've loved every second of it."

That doesn't mean that everything has been great though. Holland went on to prove that he's just like the rest of us when it comes to being away from home; he goes through puppy withdrawal too.

"But this tour has probably been the hardest part of it all. I'm so tired. I just want to go home and cuddle my dog."

Watts spoke about how integrating Peter Parker into the wider Marvel universe was one of the best parts of working on Spider-Man: Homecoming.

"That's where he was always meant to be, he was introduced to give a kid's perspective on this crazy world of superheroes, and up until now Spider-Man has been alone," he said.

Half of the fun of the Marvel or DC universes is seeing the characters we love interact with other characters. That's what makes the big crossover movies or a Mighty Marvel Team-Up so much fun; seeing all of these characters bounce off of each other. Spider-Man hasn't had the chance to do that before now and it's going to be so awesome to see how Peter Parker blends into a universe we already know so well.

Summary: Following the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Peter Parker attempts to balance his life in high school with his career as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Homecoming, directed by Jon Watts, stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Michael Keaton. Swing on down to your local theater and check it out on July 7th.
