Max Landis Superman Story Returns to the DC Holiday Special Comic
It appears that DC Comics just can't make up its mind. The DC Holiday Special 2017 anthology comic book that was to feature a Superman and Lois Lane story, Drivers Seat, by Max Landis and Francis Manapul was not, as promised, included in the printed copy. Instead that included a reprint of a classic Silver Age Batman story instead.
The story did, however, appear in the digital version of the comic book on ComiXology. Until someone noticed, and then it was suddenly removed from that as well. Not just new copies, but from copies that people had previously bought, an update was pushed out and suddenly everyone lost their Landis and Manapul.
It was suspected, though not confirmed, that this change in publishing policy was due to journalists making enquiries to DC Comics, who have employed Landis to write a number of comic books, about allegations of sexual harassment involving Landis that have recently been published. And the story in question featured Superman acting in a forgiving, fashion towards a criminal.
All that is up in the air again as of yesterday as, it seems, another update has been sent out, restoring the original digital comic, complete with Landis and Manapul story.
And no, no one seems to have any idea why…
