[Rumor] 'Star Trek: Picard' Gaining Brent Spiner as Data?!?

This is one of those times we are hopeful that a rumor [read, RUMOR] might possibly be true when it comes to Star Trek: Picard, the CBS All Access series starring Sir Patrick Stewart.

According to We've Got This Covered, who source a now pulled story from Revenge of the Fans, Star Trek: The Next Generation star Brent Spiner may be considering a return to the android makeup he so hates to reprise his role of Data.

Obviously, Spiner hasn't been the most outspoken lover of his character on TNG (notably because of the makeup, which was gorgeous on camera but understandably hell to put on everyday for filming), but he would be a welcome addition to the cast for many fans.

There was previously the report that Jonathan Frakes was on board to direct, with the possibility of him maybe slipping in front of the camera as well.

We'll let you know if we hear anything about this unlikely rumor.

Star Trek: Picard does not have a set launch date on CBS All Access yet, but we'll keep an eye on that.
